As the daughter of an architect my love of art began early. I studied Studio Art with a concentration in 3-D Design at Ferrum College. Jewelry-making specifically spoke to me. I love the idea of creating wearable art and treat my jewelry as miniature sculpture.

My business, Copper Moon was born from my love of metalwork especially the versatility of copper. I enjoy creating my own patina recipes to alter the texture and color of the metal. A few years ago I purchased a small kiln to incorporate copper enameling in my process. I love the spectrum of color I’m able to create with enameling.

Each piece begins as a sheet of jewelry gauge copper sheet metal. From there I can cut out shapes, hammer texture, patina, sift colorful layers of enamel, then bring it all together as an original finished piece. I like mixing materials often incorporating brass, coral, Czech glass beads, pearls, and sometimes found objects like shells, or sea glass.

My inspiration comes from many sources; art history, design/fashion. The root source will always be my passion for the organic designs found in nature. Since childhood I have been captivated by the exquisite design detail of the natural world from a dragonfly wing to a humble twig.

I strive to create jewelry full of symbolism and meaning often incorporating ancient symbols with historical references; modern talismans. It is an honor to create personal wearable art.
