One-of-a-Kind Hand Formed Vessels, Sculpture and In-Relief Tiles
I create handcrafted, heirloom quality, sculptural accessories for passionate, stylish women and men who treasure original, collectable pieces that accentuate their own personal style.
As a jeweler/ metalsmith, I integrate natural and social elements into my designs. Images emerge from the metal through line, form, repeated elements, texture and color, implementing a meditative, rhythmic approach using the lost wax casting process, and the hand-hammering processes of forging, chasing, sinking, raising, repouse’ and shell-forming. By applying the flame of the torch, chemical solutions and/or pigmented pencils on my copper pieces, I intensify the depth of color, while the texture and polish interplay with light and shadow to achieve the desired outcome.
In 2009, making a big move to a mountainside homestead in Roanoke County with my family, I renovated a two-stall barn into my metals studio. After a ‘homesteading reality' sabbatical, creating a few commission pieces along the way, I re-inaugurated Studio 12 in November, 2015. Since then, I have been producing new works for individual and corporate clients, galleries and designers. My work has been featured in various publications and exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the eastern United States. I am the founding member of the Southwestern Virginia Metal Arts Guild and on the board of, and an artisan member of, the Artisans Center of Virginia. I host seasonal workshops (fundraisers), teach metalsmithing classes upon request, and love having folks visit me in my studio. I would love to hear from you.
