About our event

The Open Studios Tour was founded in 2000, when a group of Roanoke artists decided to open their homes and studios to the public to build community awareness of our professional artists and artisans living and working in the Roanoke Valley.

Our tour starts on the last Saturday morning of April and runs through Sunday evening. The tour offers unique insights into how artists live and work, while showcasing their newest pieces. Focused within 6 distinct city neighborhoods, you will glean a sense of the community of artists that live and work in the region. The six neighborhoods include Northeast Roanoke, South Roanoke, Old Southwest, Southwest Roanoke and Raleigh Court & Grandin Village, and Downtown Roanoke.

Media includes sculpture, painting, drawing, collage, assemblage, jewelry, photography, fiber, ceramics, and stained glass. Come meet the artists and talk with them about their processes and new works in a casual atmosphere. In many instances, you will also get a chance to peek into working studios. Art will be offered for sale at each of the exhibition sites.

This free, family friendly, self-guided driving tour is open to the public.
