Meet Michelle Fisher, an artist based in Roanoke, whose heart finds solace in the gentle strokes of watercolor and the textured depth of oil painting. Michelle’s artistic journey began at Radford University, where she pursued her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and blossomed during a reflective study abroad experience in England.

Currently serving as the Creative Director of a global marketing company, Michelle discovers solace and joy in her personal art, delving into themes deeply rooted in nostalgia and the essence of childhood.

During the Covid lockdown, she rediscovered the simplicity of childhood, inspiring a unique theme in her work. Michelle creates immersive experiences within her paintings by incorporating cubbies, drawing viewers into her artwork in an engaging way. Influenced by a beloved book series shared with her daughter, these cubbies are adorned with small childhood trinkets, delicate eggshells, intricate origami cranes, and feathers, inviting viewers to explore the intricate details of her compositions. Nostalgia comes to life in her still-life bird paintings, where an old childhood toy finds a new home, and cubbies, filled with cherished trinkets, create an immersive experience for the viewer.

Michelle’s art is a quiet conversation between her memories and the canvas. Through her work, she hopes to share a piece of her world, inviting others to find beauty in the small things and comfort in the familiar. Join her on this journey, where art becomes an expression of the heart, speaking volumes in its simplicity.
